We’re excited to officially kick off the Fall 2026 MSL Adult Soccer League this Sunday!

At this point, all teams should have received their Welcome Package and be aware of their game times. We’re looking forward to getting everyone onto the new turf and having a great season.

Before we get started, we want to highlight two new league rules that will be in effect this season. These updates are intended to align with recent FIFA approaches to game management and, most importantly, help keep games moving without unnecessary delays.

1. Five-Second Restart Rule

All restarts must be taken within five (5) seconds.

Referees will use a visual five-second countdown to indicate the time remaining to restart play. If the team does not restart within the five-second limit, the restart will be awarded to the opposing team.

Referees are not expected to strictly count every restart. The countdown should be used when a team is delaying or unnecessarily slowing down the restart of play.

2. Captain-Only Communication with the Referee

Only the team captain or designated team representative may approach the referee to discuss calls, decisions or concerns during the game.

Players should direct any questions or concerns to their captain, who can then communicate with the referee.

The goal of this rule is to reduce multiple players approaching or surrounding the referee, create one clear point of communication, and help keep the game moving in a respectful and organized manner.

We recognize that these are new rules and it may take some time for everyone to adjust. Referees and league staff will provide reminders as teams become familiar with the process.

Red Card Suspensions & Discipline

Any player who receives a red card is automatically suspended for their next game, at minimum.

The MSL Discipline Committee will meet once per week to review all red card reports submitted by referees. Following the review, the committee will determine whether any additional suspension or discipline is required based on the incident and referee report.

Changing Areas & Facility Use

A reminder that players should not change in the field house or around the field area. Each team has access to a designated locker room for changing, and there are also washrooms readily available within the facility.

Please help us keep the field and surrounding areas clear and use the designated locker room spaces when changing.

-  1st infraction: The team's next game will be forfeited and the team will be suspended for one game.

-  2nd infraction: The team will be removed from the league for the remainder of the season.

-  Serious or repeated violations: Players may also face additional disciplinary action, including expulsion from City of Mississauga recreation facilities.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and support in helping us create a league environment that is safe, respectful, fun and professional.

Good luck to all teams this season, and we’ll see you on the field!

We would like to advise you of a change to the start date for the Fall Adult Soccer League due to the ongoing turf replacement at the Field House.

To allow sufficient time for the new turf to be fully installed, the start of the league is being pushed back by one week.

The updated start dates are:

  • Sunday League: October 4
  • Monday League: October 5
  • Tuesday League: October 6
  • Wednesday/Thursday League: October 7
  • Friday League: October 9

With the one-week schedule adjustment, the following holiday-period dates will be used to ensure teams receive their 14 guaranteed games:

  • Sunday, December 27
  • Monday, December 28
  • Wednesday, December 30

The Friday league will play on Wednesday, December 30, as both Friday, December 25 and Friday, January 1 are statutory holidays.

Tuesday and Wednesday/Thursday teams will not currently be scheduled to play on Tuesday, December 29 or Wednesday, December 30. Their schedules have sufficient flexibility to accommodate the 14 guaranteed games without requiring an additional holiday date.

Once the turf installation is completed by October 4, the Adult Soccer League will be the first league to play on the brand-new turf in the Field House.

We sincerely apologize for the change to the schedule and any inconvenience this may cause. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to complete this important facility improvement and look forward to welcoming everyone back onto the new turf.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you on the field!
