- Official FIVB (Federation Internationale de Volleyball) rules apply (note: bolded rules are specific to Beach Volleyball)
| - You can not block a serve
- Rotate in extra players
- Maximum of 5 serves in a row
- Stay off the net (if you do touch the net, it is the other teams ball)
- No crossing over the centre line
- If the ball lands on the line, it is in.
- Double hits are not allowed off the serve. (Received ball must be a clean hit)
- Maximum of 3 hits per side – receiving or 3rd hit cannot be an overhand pass (ie. volley)
- You may use your feet
- A block is counted as a hit
- No lifting (open hand upward movement of the ball) or scooping (hand staying in contact with the ball as the arm moves in an upward position)
- No open hand tips
